“Films from the North of the UK should get more recognition and I am part of that generation of filmmakers that want to be acknowledged for its multicultural background.”
— from The New Current
Comment by Sarah Gavron, jury chair at BFI Future Film Festival 2020 and director of Rocks and Suffragette:
“Francesco Puppini demonstrates an ambitious cinematic vision in Virginia and the result is a very accomplished film which shows huge technical skill. Throughout the film you see exquisite poetic imagery with a very cohesive tone and a distinctive feel. Virginia is precisely executed and Francesco has artfully pulled off a difficult concept.”
